Cleaning two fuel tanks in EAPC (Eilat Ashkelon Pipeline Co. Ltd.), each with a volume of 100,000 m3. Each tank’s floor area measures 5,000 m2. The tanks store raw fuel and during their activity years, fuel sludge has accumulated within them reaching a height of approximately 35 cm. As a stipulation for the tanks’ renovation, it was necessary to remove the sludge from them until attaining a Gas Free level.
The work was performed in two stages:
Sludge entrainment and pumping – sludge evacuation from the container was carried out by two dozers and two hydraulic pumps. Approximately 180 m3 of sludge were pumped out.
High pressure washing using detergents to remove grease residues.
The tank’s cleaning work performed until achieving a Gas Free level, was carried out during a time period significantly shorter than that required by traditional methods.
